Watson powers D’station Racing to the podium

  • Andrew and the D’station Racing team arrived in Monza confident of a strong weekend

  • The #777 Aston Martin Vantage AMR qualified tenth on the LGMTE Am grid on Saturday

  • A thrilling race saw the team move steadily up the order and into P4 by lap 16

  • Running triple stints, Andrew showed excellent pace to keep the #777 in the podium hunt

  • With less than an hour left on the clock, the team had climbed to P2 in class

  • On the cusp of the team’s first WEC podium, they were pipped to the line by the #98 Aston Martin but claimed a thoroughly-deserved P3 result

  • D’station Racing’s podium finish marks only the second Japanese entry to ever take a WEC podium and means Andrew occupies seventh in the championship with 21 points.

“It’s been one of the best days of my career! Heading into the weekend, I felt that it had the makings of a really great few days and I’m so happy with what we’ve achieved here. To stand on the podium in only the team’s third race in the World Endurance Championship is amazing. Hats off to all of the team for their incredible effort and hard work, it’s great to be able to share this moment with them. Looking ahead, I’m really confident we can add to this result in the races ahead.”
