Andrew Watson will compete in the Gerry Marshall Trophy at this weekend’s Goodwood Members’ Meeting - the 79th edition of the famous event.
The 27-year-old will share driving duties of a 1976 Ford Escort RS2000 alongside Pantelis Christoforou in the Gerry Marshall Trophy - one of the showpiece events of the weekend.
Taking part in the one-hour Gerry Marshall Trophy race on Saturday afternoon, Andrew will take to the revered 2.367-mile Goodwood circuit. Behind the wheel of the Ford Escort, Andrew will race against some of the finest machines of the Group 1 era of race cars, commemorating the sport’s rich history.
“It’s very exciting to be lining up for the Goodwood Members’ Meeting,” Andrew said. “The Gerry Marshall Trophy is an annual highlight of the historic racing calendar and I’m really looking forward to taking part. The Ford Escort RS2000 is a beautiful machine so I’ll certainly do my best to look after it. I'd like to say a huge thank you to Pantelis for asking me to get involved - here's to a great weekend!”
Track action for the Gerry Marshall Trophy begins on Saturday morning with practice at 10:00, followed by the hour-long race later in the day at 16:05.
All of the action will be available to watch live throughout the weekend via the Goodwood Road & Racing website, YouTube channel and Facebook page. Viewers can also tune to ITV4 from 15:00 till 17:00, which will host live coverage of Andrew's race.
